During the first twelve days of December I'll be posting twelve ways to self-edit.
Today's Tip: Find Some Friends
Writing and Editing might be a lonely endeavor but there are loads of others out there just as lonely! Find a friend who reads the kinds of books you write, writes the same genre as you, or is good with the mechanics. Find a critique group. Join Facebook or writing forums that swap pages. See if you can trade them for looking over your book and giving feedback. This might mean editing their book, babysitting for them while they read, or bartering for stuff like graphics work or other crafty projects. I love to barter with clients to help make professional edits more affordable and there's no reason for you not to do the same!
